Eintracht Frankfurt loan Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain!

Eintracht Frankfurt have bolstered their attack with the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitiké from Paris Saint-Germain. The Hessian Bundesliga club have agreed a loan deal for the 21-year-old until the end of the season, with an option to buy after that.

Ekitiké, who was born in Reims in France, has family roots in Cameroon and sporting roots at Cormontreuil FC. From there, the now 1.89-metre-tall man joined Stade de Reims in 2013. Via the academy and the reserves, the six-time France U20 international worked his way up into the Red and Whites’ first team in Ligue 1.

Following his debut in 2020, he headed out loan to Danish club Vejle Boldklub for the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, where he posted three goals and two assists in 11 games. In the following season, Ekitiké impressed back in France with 11 goals and four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, attracting the interest of Paris Saint-Germain. In his first year with the French champions, the forward made 25 appearances in the league along with three in the cup and four in the UEFA Champions League, registering four goals and four assists.

Board member for sport Markus Krösche said, “Hugo is a young player who’s already proven his big potential. We were impressed by him in the summer and haven’t changed our mind. We’re happy that the transfer has worked out within the context of our financial circumstances. Of course, we’ll give him the time he needs to get settled.”
