EAST BENGAL the REAL POWER (EBRP), a fan forum of Indian Football giant East Bengal Club, vows to keep the torch blazing against the COVID-19 Monster.
It has been more than two months since the world started reeling against the onslaught of the Coronavirus and India announced full lockdown from 3rd week of March 2020.
The current week is the fourth week in running that we all have spent in lockdown based on the medical professionals’ advice. Not only the factories and stores, the buses and trains, the movie theaters – there has been a complete shutdown of sports activities worldwide as well. The European football powerhouses – Italy, Spain, Germany, France have been among the worst-hit countries with some of the highest death tolls.
There has been a significant impact of this in India as well. Like everywhere else – India has been put under complete lockdown to prevent the pandemic from spreading. For a developing nation like India where a large percentage of the workforce are daily wage laborers – the lockdown while attempting to ensure physical well-being has far reaching economic impacts.
The central and state governments are trying to play their part to ensure the populace stays healthy – and there have been welfare funds set up from both ends for this purpose.
EBRP, throughout its existence – have never kept itself limited just to the definition of a Football fan forum. They have always involved themselves in social welfare and relief activities wherever applicable. In this situation as well, we stepped up to collect funds to donate to The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) and West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund. In just 4 days i.e. 96 hours, we were able to collect Rs 71,971 for this purpose.
But this is not where we stop; we have stretched ourselves even further. We have taken on the responsibility of helping out 100 lower-income families residing in Halishahar (an outskirt of Kolkata, India), by providing them food, masks and sanitizers. We have already started collecting additional funds for this purpose – and we are confident that we all, working as a team as always, will win this “match” as well.
There is always light at the end of a tunnel, always daylight at the end of a dark night. In a while from now, THIS TOO SHALL PASS and things will be all right and normal as usual – and this will just feel like a bad dream. But even in these dark times, EBRP will shine through with the club’s blazing torch in hand and will help our whoever is in need.

করোনার বিরুদ্ধেও ইষ্টবেঙ্গলের মশাল জ্বালিয়ে রাখতে বদ্ধপরিকর EBRP.
গোটা বিশ্ব এখন মহামারীর কবলে। বিশেষজ্ঞ ডাক্তারদের পরামর্শ মেনে গোটা বিশ্ব স্বেচ্ছায় গৃহবন্দী হয়ে দিন কাটাচ্ছে। কল-কারখানা, ব্যবসা-বানিজ্য, গাড়ি-ঘোড়ার সাথে সাথে বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে ফুটবল সহ অন্যান্য খেলাধুলাও। ফুটবলবিশ্বের তাবড় মহাশক্তিধর দেশ ইতালী, স্পেন, জার্মানী, ফ্রান্স এই মহামারীতে রীতিমতো নাজেহাল। বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে বাঙালীর চিরাচরিত আবেগের ডার্বী ও, যা হয়তো ইতিহাসের শেষ বাঙালীর ডার্বীর মর্যাদা পেতে চলেছিলো। মহামারীর হাত থেকে বাঁচতে গোটা বিশ্বের মতো ভারত ও গৃহবন্দী বা লকডাউনের আওতায়। ভারতের মতো উন্নয়নশীল দেশের জন্য এই লকডাউন এক ভয়ঙ্কর অভিশাপের সমান আবার বাইরে করোনার মৃত্যু ভ্রূকুটি। আয়ের উপায় বন্ধ হলেও জীবনে চলার পথ বন্ধ হয় না।
এই তীব্র বিপদসঙ্কুল পরিস্থিতিতে দেশের জনগণকে সুস্থ, স্বাভাবিক রাখাটা সরকারের দায়িত্ব। সরকার তার দায়িত্ব পালনে যথাসাধ্য বদ্ধপরিকর মনোভাব দেখাচ্ছে। কিন্তু এতো বড় এবং বৈচিত্র্যময় দেশে সবকিছু ঠিকঠাক ছন্দে ধরে রাখতে গেলে প্রয়োজন বিপুল পরিমাণ অর্থের। আর তাই লকডাউনে যাওয়ার শুরু থেকেই দেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী এবং রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী দেশের জনগণের কাছ থেকে অর্থসাহায্য চেয়ে গঠন করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী ত্রাণ তহবিল ও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ত্রাণ তহবিল। প্রধানমন্ত্রী ত্রাণ তহবিল থেকে টাকা সকল রাজ্য সরকারের মধ্যে বিলিবন্টন হবে আর মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ত্রান তহবিল থেকে টাকা সংশ্লিষ্ট রাজ্যের জনগণের হিতে খরচ করা হবে।
EAST BENGAL the REAL POWER (EBRP) কখনোই নিজেদের শুধুমাত্র ইষ্টবেঙ্গলের ফ্যান ফোরামের গন্ডীতে আবদ্ধ রাখতে চায়নি। সমাজকল্যাণমূলক বিভিন্ন কাজে সাধ্যমতো ব্রতী হয়ে সমাজের বিভিন্ন স্তরে ছড়িয়ে দিতে চেয়েছে ইষ্টবেঙ্গল ক্লাবের নাম। নিজেদের সমর্থকদের বিপদে পাশে দাঁড়ানোর সীমা পেরিয়ে EBRP করতে চায় আরেকটু বেশী কিছু। কাজের মধ্য দিয়ে মাতৃসম ক্লাবের নামটাকে ছড়িয়ে দিতে চায় দেশের কোণায় কোণায়, সমাজের স্তরে স্তরে।
এই আরেকটু বেশী কিছু করার প্রচেষ্টা থেকেই উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ও মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর ত্রান তহবিলের জন্য অনুদান সংগ্রহের। মাত্র ৯৬ ঘন্টায় ১৬৪ জন সদস্যের আনুকুল্যে মোট ৭১,৯৭১ টাকা সংগ্রহ সম্ভব হয়েছে। যার অর্ধেক অর্থাৎ ৩৬ হাজার টাকা প্রধানমন্ত্রীর তহবিলে আর বাকি ৩৬ হাজার টাকা মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর তহবিলে জমা করা হয়েছে।
এখানেই থামতে রাজি নয় EBRP পরিবার। আরেকটু বেশী হলে ক্ষতি কি? আর তাই হালিশহরে দারিদ্রসীমার নীচে বসবাসকারী একশোটি পরিবারকে খাদ্যসামগ্রী, মাস্ক ও স্যানিটাইজার সরবরাহ করে করোনা বিরোধী লড়াইয়ে টিকিয়ে রাখতে ব্রতী হয়েছে EBRP পরিবার। শুরু হয়েছে EBRP পরিবারের মধ্য থেকে অর্থ সংগ্রহের প্রক্রিয়া। দল মত নির্বিশেষে সবাইকে সাথে নিয়ে এই লড়াইটা জিতে নেবার ব্যাপারে EBRP পরিবার বেশ আত্মবিশ্বাসী।
অন্ধকারের শেষে যেমন ভোরের আলো আসে, ঠিক সেভাবেই পৃথিবীর এই অসুখ ও একদিন শেষ হয়ে আলোয় ঝলমল করবে। সব ঠিক হয়ে যাবে। গড়াতে গড়াতে গতিশীল হয়ে উঠবে মানবজীবন। প্রাকৃতিক নিয়ম মেনেই সব হবে। তবে এই জমাট অন্ধকারে EBRP মাতৃসম ইষ্টবেঙ্গল ক্লাবের নামকে সামনে রেখে জ্বলন্ত মশাল হাতে আর্ত মানবতার সেবায় যথাসাধ্য এগিয়ে আসতে বদ্ধপরিকর।
সকলে নিরাপদে থাকুন, সতর্ক থাকুন।
EBRP-র সাথে থাকুন।
জয় আমাদের হবে নিশ্চয়।
