FC Barcelona took to social media to wish its fans a bright and joyous Festival of Lights. The video features first team players Lionel Messi and Ansu Fati as well as a message from Frenkie De Jong thanking Culers around the world for being part of the Barça family. The auspicious festival is a time to celebrate with those who matter to you, which is why Barça Academies in India and the official Penya were given an exclusive window to post the video on their social media channels before FC Barcelona. It is estimated that FC Barcelona has 9M fans in India.
When the world was at a temporary standstill, Barça Academy India continued to work with technical experts at FC Barcelona to design an innovative live football training curriculum. We have successfully delivered exhaustive online training to over 3,500 young footballers, spread over 6,000 hours following Barça Academy Methodology.
Barça Academy in India began in 2012 with the earliest Barça Academy Camps, which since then have expanded to four Academies in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune as well as local and international tournaments. The Academies welcome 2,200 boys and girls to training sessions every week and are taught by coaches trained by Barça.
According to Kriti Jain, Associate Director – Conscient Football, “For everyone, globally, the past eight months have been challenging. As we approach the Festival of Lights, Diwali, we at Barça Academy India have taken the decision to re-open our centres across the country in a phased manner. As a responsible organisation, we have taken extreme care to ensure the safety of all young footballers, coaches and those associated on and off field.” She added, “Our programme for the time being will focus on minimal contact oriented training to ensure social distancing, yet provide exhaustive training as envisioned by Barca Academy.”
