FC Bengaluru United play out 4-4 draw against MEG!

As the heavens opened up, FC Bengaluru United were held to a dramatic 4-4 draw against MEG & Centre FC in their sixth game of the BDFA Super Division Championship. The two-time BDFA champions showcased their attacking prowess in the first half with three goals (Amla 21’, Akshunna 29’, 37’). However defensive lapses allowed MEG to claw back in the second half. A last-ditch goal by Rakesh in the 70th minute levelled the score at 4-4.

The match began cautiously as both teams vied for control of possession. FC Bengaluru United found their rhythm midway through the half, creating a flurry of chances. Akshunna came close twice, first with a one-on-one that was denied by the MEG keeper, and then another effort disrupted by a defender’s decisive touch. The breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Chun delivered a precise cross that Akshunna deflected towards goal, with Amla finishing the move by smashing it into the roof of the net. The momentum continued as Akshunna scored again in the 29th minute after a series of quick passes sliced through MEG’s defense. Before the break, FCBU extended their lead to 3-0 with a spectacular move involving Chun’s cross-field pass to Dhruv, who set up Akshunna for a simple tap-in.

FC Bengaluru United started the second half with confidence but struggled to maintain their dominance. MEG capitalized on defensive errors to fight back, scoring crucial goals that shifted the momentum of the match. A stunning goal from Rakesh in the 70th minute—where he displayed immaculate control and composure to wrong-foot the keeper and score—helped FCBU level the scoreline at 4-4. By the final whistle, the game ended 4-4, with FC Bengaluru United left to rue their missed chances and costly errors.
