FC Goa’s Juan Ferrando wants complete focus from his players against NorthEast United FC!

FC Goa take on NorthEast United FC in their third outing of this edition of the ISL on Saturday. While both sides have not been able to recreate some of last season’s magic just yet, the Gaurs` head coach Juan Ferrando, expects the game to be a tough one.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming game, the Spaniard spoke about the current run of form and the preparations for the upcoming game.

FC Goa have endured two difficult games, to begin with, this season and no one is more gutted with the results than the head coach himself. When asked to share his thoughts, Ferrando said, “Obviously, I am disappointed as the team has worked very well during the preseason, so it is difficult to cope with these first two results.”

“It is clear that we must improve certain aspects, but mainly I believe that we must work to improve the emotional aspect. After a goal from the rival, we must stay focused and keep fighting and follow the guidelines learned in training.”

“When the rival scores a goal shortly after the first one, it means there is a lack of concentration,” he added.

The sides had to share the points both times they met last season. However, NorthEast United FC will have their task cut out this time around as they head into the fixture without their influential captain Federico Gallego.

Speaking on Saturday’s fixture he stated, “I don’t think it will be an easy match as both teams are tense and nervous about achieving their first positive result, the three points. I hope we can stay focused for 90 minutes and pay attention to the game.”

Whilst the first two games have been less than ideal for FC Goa, Juan Ferrando was able to extract a few positive things from the first 180 minutes of action of the season.

“There are always positives,” he said. “For example, I think we did well occupying the spaces when attacking and when starting the game. However, we need to improve positioning on the last part of the field.”

“In positional attack, we need to put attention in pressing immediately after losing the ball,” he added.
