FC Goa effected a superb 5-4 come from behind victory over Chennaiyin FC in a rematch of last years Indian Super League final and a side they have never beaten before in the history of the ISL at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao.
In a nine goal thriller, the Gaurs finally came to the party but it wasn’t enough to take them off the bottom of the table. At the heart of the victory was Brazilian striker Rafael Coelho.
The Brazilian was a livewire on the field and had probably his best game in an FC Goa shirt. He supported the midfield very well, tracked back to take possession of the ball and spread play with ease. Additionally, he made a number of runs through the defence and was generally a nuisance to the Chennaiyin FC defence. He controlled the ball very well and his finishing was top notch.
As a result, he was also adjudged the Hero of the Match and Coelho also dedicated his goals to his fallen friends from the Chapecoense squad who lost their lives in a terrible plane crash in Colombia a few days ago.
