FC Schalke 04 sign Ron Schallenberg!

The Royal Blues have completed their first summer signing in midfielder Ron Schallenberg from SC Paderborn. The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the 2025/26 season and will wear the number 6 shirt. Both clubs have agreed to keep the transfer details undisclosed.

“Ron is a player who can control the game and who will provide us with stability in the middle of the park, both with and without the ball. His quality and mentality both mean he is the right man for us,” said sporting director André Hechelmann. “We firmly believe that he can contribute a lot towards our short- and medium-term goals in his role in defensive midfield.”

Head coach Thomas Reis is looking forward to having Schallenberg in his team: “With his vision, physicality and power, Ron has all the important traits needed for a central midfielder. I’m certain that he can be an important member of our squad with his leadership qualities.”

Schallenberg is excited to get started: “I’m pleased to have signed for Schalke after the really positive conversations with the club. We all have the same goal and I want to achieve it together with the team and the fans. We will work hard towards it over the coming weeks.”

Schallenberg, born in Paderborn, played 33 times in the Bundesliga 2 last season, scoring three goals and setting up a further two. He joined his hometown club back in 2009 from SV Marienloh and spent two years on loan at SC Verl between 2018 and 2020.
