FC St. Pauli extend contract of head coach Fabian Hürzeler!

FC St. Pauli have agreed terms with head coach Fabian Hürzeler on an extension of his contract, which was due to expire in summer. Director of sport Andreas Bornemann expressed his satisfaction with the deal, saying that the club had wrapped up a key personnel matter on the footballing side.

The decision brought the negotiations to a successful conclusion, with FC St. Pauli and Fabian Hürzeler agreeing to sign a new contract keeping the head coach at the Millerntor beyond the end of the 2023/24. The two sides have also agreed not to disclose any further details of the deal.

FC St. Pauli president Oke Göttlich said, “I’d like to thank Andreas Bornemann and Fabian Hürzeler for the great work they are doing on behalf of FC St. Pauli and for taking the time needed to reach the best-possible solution for all sides in the face of growing public pressure. We’re proud of the progress Fabian Hürzeler has made at FC St. Pauli, which is based on unity and trust and is still unfolding. We aren’t done yet!”

FC St. Pauli director of sport Andreas Bornemann said, “We’re glad to have reached a decision in this important personnel matter and I look forward to continuing the association with Fabian, which has been constructive, professional and trustworthy from the outset. The day-to-day work on the pitch remains the most important aspect, and that has been characterised by clarity and professionalism from the start of our journey together.”

FC St. Pauli head coach Fabian Hürzeler said, “Many thanks to FC St. Pauli for the trust and the collaboration to date. The talks with Andreas and the presidential board were characterised by mutual respect throughout because we all have the same goal, and that is to be as successful as possible for the club and its fans. That’s my mission as head coach and I’ll continue to work as hard as I can with that in mind.”
