FIFA and its President Gianni Infantino have sent their condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives during the match between Alianza FC and Club Deportivo FAS at the Cuscatlán Stadium in El Salvador.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims who lost their lives after the tragic incidents that have taken place in El Salvador during the match between Alianza FC and Club Deportivo FAS,” the FIFA President said.

The FIFA President also referenced the tragic incident in his address to the 76th World Health Assembly, which began on Sunday 21 May in Geneva, Switzerland.

FIFA confirmed that one minute’s silence will be held before all four matches on Sunday 21 May at the FIFA U-20 World Cup matches in Argentina. As a mark of respect, the flags of El Salvador and of FIFA and all of the confederations were flown at half-mast at the Home of FIFA in Zurich.
