FIFA Women’s World Rankings: India drop to 60th, USA regain top spot!

Earlier in the day, the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the second rankings of 2017, India dropped four spots to be in 60th position jointly with Northern Ireland behind Turkey and ahead of Venezuela.

India have 1404 points, the same as last month and they dropped two spots to 13rd position in the Asian (AFC) Women’s rankings.

After a disappointing 2018 AFC Asian Women’s Cup qualifiers with heavy losses to North Korea, South Korea, and Uzbekistan besides a win over Hongkong, no matches are planned for the India Women team.

In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Nepal (99th), Bangladesh (110th), Sri Lanka (111th), the Maldives (113th), Afghanistan (116th) and Bhutan (120th) with Pakistan currently unranked.

There were changes in the top 5. The United States (2,118 pts) have displaced Germany (2,111 pts) from the top position ahead of France (2,072 pts) in third, while Canada (2,027 pts) and England (2,024 pts) exchanged their positions to complete the top five.
