FIFA World Rankings: India drop to 97th, Brazil regain top spot!

FIFA - Coca Cola Mens World RankingEarlier in the day, the latest FIFA ‘Coca Cola’ Men’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the August rankings, India dropped a place to be in 97th position behind Zambia, but ahead of Estonia.

India have 341 points, the same number of points like last month and remain in 12nd position of the Asian (AFC) rankings.

India’s next international matches are slated with friendlies against St. Kitts & Nevis and Mauritius in a home tournament and further 2019 AFC Asian Cup – Round 3 qualifier matches.

In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Maldives (142nd), Afghanistan (156th), Bhutan (165th), Nepal (169th), Bangladesh (189th), Sri Lanka (197th) and Pakistan (200th).

There was a major shake-up in the top 5 despite little to no action for the top nations. Brazil (1,604 points) are back at the top ahead of FIFA World Cup winners and new FIFA Confederations Cup champions Germany (1,549 pts), while Argentina (1,399 pts) stay third with Switzerland (1,329 points) and Poland (1,319 points) both gain a spot and complete the top five.
