Fiji FA appoint Timo Jankowski as new Technical Director!

The Fiji Football Association has announced Timo Jankowski as its newly appointed Technical Director.

This is revealed by the Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel in a press conference at its Technical Academy in Ba yesterday.

Patel said the decision was made following a series of interviews over the past few months in consultation with the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).

“Today’s special announcement is in respect of the development of football in Fiji and thus I wish to announce that we have recruited a very young, energetic, and highly qualified individual to be our next technical director,” Patel said.

“Timo is well known to the region and its culture after spending about a year in New Zealand as a football player in early the 2000s.”

“After a series of interviews with Timo who was based in Switzerland, in march 2021 we finally agreed that we found the right person and added incentives for us was that he is a strength and conditioning expertise as well.”

Jankowski attained his UEFA A Licence in 2011 in Germany via the German Football Federation (DFB) and did his refresher for UEFA A Licence in 2016 with the Swiss Football Federation.

He has a professional football coaching background with more than 10 years of experience at the highest level in the areas of High-Performance Training, Holistic Player Development, Talent Identification, and Scouting, Curriculum and Training Concept Development, and Coach Education on and off the field.

The 36-year-old German national is the author of two football education books with the Topics of Tactical Periodization and High-level Football Training which became one of the international bestsellers.

He also holds a Degree in International Business from the University of Lörrach.

“My drive is to work for a long-term and ambitious project for the Fiji Football Association to develop sustainable success in all areas of the game,” Jankowski said.

“I am very happy to be given the opportunity with Fiji FA and can’t wait to start.”
