Final squads for Olympic Football Tournaments Tokyo 2020 confirmed!

With just over two weeks to go, the Olympic Football Tournaments Tokyo 2020 took an exciting step today as the final squads for the 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams were confirmed.

Kicking off the Olympic football action on July 21, the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament will see 12 of the top-ranked teams go head-to-head at Tokyo 2020, including host nation Japan, Brazil and the Netherlands, as well as Australia and New Zealand, co-hosts of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners, the USA, will be hoping to secure a historic fifth Olympic gold medal in women’s football at Tokyo 2020, following their quarterfinal exit at the hands of Sweden at Rio 2016.

For the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament, Rio 2016 gold medallists Brazil will return to Olympic action with a star-studded squad in Group D, which will include Dani Alves and Richarlison, together with a number of emerging stars in world football. France, winners of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, will look to emulate their performances in Russia and will open their Olympic campaign in Group A, which also features Japan, South Africa and Mexico.

Participating countries have the option of selecting 22 players for their squad and will be able to choose a maximum of 18 players on matchdays.

The men’s and women’s Olympic Football Tournaments Tokyo 2020 will take place at seven venues across Japan from July 21 to August 7.
