First-ever AFC Social Responsibility Toolkit to further elevate impact of community programmes!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) today launched the AFC Social Responsibility Toolkit as part of its long-standing commitment to bring about beneficial change by harnessing the power of football.

The Toolkit, the first of its kind to be developed by the AFC, is designed specifically for the AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) and Regional Associations (RAs) to elevate their capacities in delivering impactful Social Responsibility (SR) programmes.

As part of the AFC’s goals for its Social Responsibility Strategy, the Toolkit is a practical guide to developing all-inclusive SR programmes from an idea or concept to a full proposal, as well as the policies and procedures related to creating and delivering such programmes.

An evolving document that will be updated periodically based on feedback from the MAs and RAs as well as practical experience, the Toolkit considers their unique complexities, challenges and opportunities. It then strives to provide MAs and RAs with essential tools and processes to unlock football’s true value for their most marginalised communities.

MAs and RAs are encouraged to develop their SR programmes based on one or more of the three AFC SR Pillars: Child Safeguarding, Education and Social Inclusion. Programmes should also reflect the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which among others, looks to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and improve health and education by 2030.

AFC Social Responsibility Committee Chairperson Zaw Zaw said: “As an extension of the AFC Social Responsibility Strategy 2023-2027, this Toolkit aims to enrich and empower our MAs and RAs, regardless of their size or stature, to institute a more meaningful methodology in the delivery of our life changing programmes all across the Continent.

“From the ideation and conceptualisation stage to the implementation and review phase, the breakthrough Toolkit represents the AFC’s desire not only to work in closer partnership with our MAs and RAs, but also in elevating their capabilities in the long term.”

The Toolkit’s development and launch underlines the AFC’s ongoing efforts to increase the capacities of its MAs and RAs, as well as its commitment to drive positive change throughout Asia by strengthening and empowering MAs and RAs to administer and deliver programmes of high quality and impact.

“This initiative reinforces our belief to never leave desired outcomes to chance,” added Zaw Zaw. “Through purposeful design and the meticulous measures outlined in this Toolkit, we want to create the best possible environment to ensure our collective success.

“There is no denying the incredible progress the AFC, MAs and RAs have made together, and as we mark yet another milestone on our shared journey through this Toolkit, I am confident we will deliver more transformative programmes that will continue to leave a profound impact on our future generations in the years and decades to come.”
