Football industry heralds latest Soccerex USA!

Senior industry figures from across the Americas and the rest of the world have heralded Soccerex USA as a huge success, uniting in their praise of the two day soccer business event which took place on November 15/16, in Miami.

Taking place at Marlins Park, the event attracted 1932 delegates from 78 different countries, with the leadership groups of every major league, federation and confederation in North America in attendance as well as Presidents, Chairmen and CEOs of clubs and leagues from South and Central America and Europe.

Alexi Lalas, former US Men’s National Team player and now leading soccer analyst at Fox Sports, described Soccerex as ‘legendary’ saying “It is a collection of incredible minds and people from the industry.”

John Kristick, Executive Director of the successful United 2026 bid, who presented the Duncan Revie Award to former US Soccer President Alan Rothenberg for his work in developing the game in the US, commented, “What impresses me most is the quality of the turnout – organising these types of events is not easy and it also take a commitment from the professionals to find time in their calendar. I think it’s recognition of Soccerex that they’ve gotten such a high quality turnout.”

Philippe Moggio, General Secretary, Concacaf felt the event was “a great opportunity for not only our administration but also our members to be part of this great development.”

Former Dutch International and now AFC Ajax academy coach, Ronald de Boer said “the whole world of football is here” and LaLiga President, Javier Tebas described Soccerex as “fundamental” to the Spanish league.

MLS Commissioner, Don Garber said: “I’ve been a big supporter of Soccerex since I came into this industry many, many years ago. It’s great not just for our league and what we’re trying to do but I think it’s great for the whole soccer/football community.”

The event provided a high profile networking environment aimed at promoting the growth of soccer across the Americas, with 63% of delegates at C-Suite or Director level, an exhibition which included 91 different companies and the attendance split 62% / 38% in terms of the Americas and the rest of the world.

Soccerex USA drew widespread global media coverage, with 2.8m article views worldwide creating a total publicity value of over $4.6m for Soccerex and their sponsors.

This year’s event in Miami marks the start of Soccerex’s long term commitment to the market in the Americas, in the run up to the 2026 World Cup. They will return to the South Florida next year with Soccerex USA 2019 set to take place in November as part of a global event line up that will include events in China and a return to Europe.

More information on Soccerex’s 2019 portfolio will be released soon.
