Former Delhi State football captain Subhash Negi dies at the age of 40!

Subhash NegiFormer Delhi State football captain Subhash Negi passed away this morning following prolonged illness at his residence in New Delhi.

He was only 40 years old at the time of his death and leaves behind his wife and an unmarried daughter besides two sons.

Subhash Negi did his schooling from one of the best football supporting schools in the capital in Bharat Nagar School.

He started his football career in Delhi with top Delhi league clubs like New Delhi Heroes, Indian National FC and Hindustan Football Club and Goodwill FC in nineties. He represented Delhi in the Senior National Football Championship for Santosh trophy from 1998 to 2001. During his playing days he had an offer to join then top National Football League side Vasco SC in Goa, but he stayed in Delhi, where he was an employee of Delhi Audit since December 1999.

He was cremated this afternoon at the Nigam Bodh Ghat. A number of football players and officials were present.

The Delhi Soccer Association deeply condoled his death as Delhi football has lost one its best midfielders in recent years.
