Former India international & Santosh Trophy winner A.D. Nagendra no more!

Former India international A.D. Nagendra, who also was a member of the then Mysore state Santosh Trophy winning team, passed away at the Sakra Hospital at 8.30pm today, January 26.

The 79 year old, who was a dependable defender as a player, was a Governing Board member of the Karnataka State Football Association, was the former Treasurer of the KSFA and was an outstanding coach of many state teams.

Nagendra also coached the India U-19 team when they played at Bangalore’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

He was also an Awardee of the Karnataka Olympic Association.

“We are shocked by his sudden demise and this last year we have lost several former stalwarts. Mr Nagendra was a soft-spoken and gentle person who has contributed immensely to Karnataka football,” said KSFA president N.A. Haris.
