FPAI – Indian Football Awards 2019 successfully held in Gangtok, Sikkim!

The Football Players Association of India (FPAI) held their annual Indian Football Awards on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, Sikkim.

The first-ever FPAI – Indian Football Awards in Sikkim was held in the stadium infront of football fans, who had come to see a FPAS XI taking on an FPAI XI featuring local stars like Baichung Bhutia, Nirmal Chettri, Sanju Pradhan, Bikash Jairu and Nim Tshering Lepcha taking on national level footballers in FPAI president Renedy Singh, Mohammed Nawaz, Anwar Ali, Mohanraj, Nadong Bhutia, Mohammed Rafique and others.

The Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad was present as the chief guest and the chief minister P.S. Golay was the guest of honour.

India captain and Bengaluru FC striker Sunil Chhetri, who sadly couldn’t attend, was voted by the players as the India Player of the Year 2019.

FC Goa’s Spanish striker Ferran Corominas was voted by the players as the Foreign Player of the Year 2019.

Dutch coach Eelco Schattorie, who coached NorthEast United FC last season and will be at the helm at Kerala Blasters this season, was voted by the players as the Coach of the Year 2019.

India and Delhi Dynamos winger Lallinzuala Chhangte of Mizoram was voted by the players as the Young Player of the Year 2019.

India and Kerala Blasters midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad of Kerala was voted the Fans Player of the Year 2019.

Meanwhile former FPAI president Bhaichung Bhutia was felicitated for his contributions towards Indian Football

The FPAI had the local Football Players Association of Sikkim (FPAS) as partners in organising the event.
