Goa FA ExCo members state misrepresentation by its president Churchill Alemao infront of COA & AIFF!

Not all is well within the Goa Football Association (GFA) as a mail send by some its executive committee members states that they were not consulted before the GFA president Churchill Alemao denied the GFA’s agreement with other state associations in their stand on the new AIFF constitution.

The GFA executive committee members stated that the GFA president Churchill Alemao happens to be also the Churchill Brothers president.

Here comes the mail in full, which has been send to the media!

Misrepresentation before COA attributed to GFA.

This is with reference to a news report that has appeared in the Hindustan Times- “Let ISL be top League, 35 of AIFF’s 36 states tell SC”, the link of which has been pasted below for ready reference.

The news item involving the Goa FA has compelled us the undersigned Executive Committee members of Goa FA who could meet at short notice to make this representation, without prejudice to the rights of other members who could not be contacted at such a short notice. .

The matter being of grave importance , we the Executive Committee members of the Goa Football Association (GFA) bring to the notice of the Committee of Administrators (CoA) that neither in the recent Executive Committee of the GFA held on 12th July 2022, which was subsequently adjourned and continued on 15th July 2022 nor in any of the past meetings any such matter was discussed nor was any decision taken by the Committee with regards to the above mentioned subject.

Whatever recommendations or suggestions received by AIFF have therefore to be treated as sent by the President of the GFA in his individual capacity and disregarded outright as being unauthorised.

It appears that the President has shown scant regard to the executive Committee members and gone ahead and expressed his personal views as that of the Association, without any basis and such views fall short of being the views of the GFA.

We the below named members being unaware of the contents of the letter sent by the Association to the CoA, are compelled to bring to your notice the bias and conflict of interest in the comments. The President of GFA has personal Association with Churchill Brothers SC, an I–League club and therefore ought to have recused himself from sending any comments without taking up the matter in the executive committee meeting.

In the circumstances, we once again request you to review the situation by disregarding the views sent from Goa in entirety.

We also urge you to cause an investigation into this instance of high handedness that has resulted into misrepresentation of facts before the COA and that too in a matter which is to be placed before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. It has also created a wrong impression about GFA in the minds of public at large.

We shall send more details about the functioning of the association shortly for appropriate action.

Thanking you,

1) Anthony Pango- Vice President
2) Jonathan De Sousa- Executive Committee Member
3) Adlear D’Cruz- Executive Committee Member
4) Anthony Leo Fernandes- Executive Committee Member
5) Prakash Dessai- Executive Committee Member
6) Cosme Oliveira- Executive Committee Member
7) Digvijay Velingkar- Co-Opted Member
