Goa Sub-Juniors defeat Rajasthan in West Zone qualifiers!

One goal each from Nacio Fernandes (48′) and Richard Carvalho (59′) gave the Goan Sub-Junior side a winning start in the Sub Junior National Football Championship – West Zone qualifiers over Rajasthan being held at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

The Goan lads had a few good chances in the first half in the from of Patre Joseph de Souza & Valenco Rodrigues. Their best chance came in the 20th minute when Harsh came one on one against the Rajasthan keeper but the latter pulled out a brilliant save. In the 35th minute Nacho Fernandes hit the cross bar missing the opportunity minutely.

Crossing over it was all Goa, in the 48th minute Rajasthan defender brought down a charging Valenco Rodrigues in the box the resulting penalty was calmly converted by Nacio Fernandes with a good right footer. Goan lads added their second goal in the 59th minute when once agian Valenco made a brilliant run on the left to beat his marker and set Richard with a good low cross only to tap home the second goal.

Goa takes on Gujarat on December 22 in their next fixture.
