The Pax of Nagoa lads were humbled at home by the Salgaocar FC U18 in a GFA U18 League fixture on Friday. The Vasco outfit scored via Devendra Mulgaonkar in the 34th minute, Shane Rodrigues in the 69th & the evening’s final goal in the 74th minute from Liston Colaco.
The Greens were off to a flying start as Rowlin got passed the Pax defence in the very 2nd minute but his shot came off the crossbar to deny the young Green. The Pax custodian was not given a chance to rest as in the 10th minute a brilliant Kaushik Negi cross accompanied by a blazing Divyansh Sudan run had him make a close range save to deny an attacking Salgaocar side. The deadlock broke just 4 minutes after the clock crossed the half hour mark Sudan sent in a ball towards Devendra who skilfully dribbled his way past 3 of the Nagoa defenders to send a low ball placing it to the far left of the keeper. As the first half ended the Greens were separated from their opponents by a single goal.
The 2nd half saw a charged up Pax of Nagoa go for goal as they held most of the possession while making threatening attempts on the Salgaocar goal. As the clock struck 60 minutes it looked like things would go level as Antonio D’Silva was out smarted by the Nagoa striker by his lob effort went just above the horizontal post. In the 69th minute Shane received a well-timed through ball from Jovan Dias to outsmart the Pax custodian as he sent the ball to his right. Liston scripted the final goal as he dribbled past a defender after Selvin Miranda sent his pass to the striker to score. The Green ended the game on a high as the score read 3-o.
