Greater Guwahati Baby League season 3 ends!

After two-month long Football action, season 3 of the Greater Guwahati Baby League (GGBL) concluded last weekend with the final match day at Krishi Bhawan field, Six Mile.

The first ever Golden Baby League of Assam organized by Guwahati City FC and Sportscraft Management, had two finals (U-6, U-8) and four semifinals (U-10, U-12) followed by the finals on the Final matchday.

In U-6 final, Guwahati City FC was defeated by Manomay SC 3-2 while in the U-8 final, Chandmari SC defeated Narengi Football Coaching Centre 1-0 on a tiebreaker.

In the U-10 final, Huntos FC defeated North East Elite Soccer School 1-0. In U-12 final, Guwahati City FC was defeated by Pragjyotishpur FA 1-0.

In the closing ceremony, 20 talented players from the league were formally adopted by Lovlina Foundation, an organization founded by Olympic medalist Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, to help the athletes achieve their sporting potential

Tiken Borgohain, father of the ace Boxer and Treasurer of the Foundation, Dr Achyut Baishya, Principal, of Guwahati Medical College and Vice President of Lovlina Foundation explained the initiative and praised Guwahati City FC for their efforts in grassroots development.

The event was also attended by Dipak Dey, Vice President, Assam Football Association; Dr Kabita Mazumdar, MD, Querencia; Bidhan Das, Head of the Youth Development, Guwahati City FC; Sailendra Sarma, Sales head, X’ss Beverages; Dipanjana Choudhury, HR and member of the executive board, Brahmaputra Tea.

29 players and 14 coaches of the league was presented with emerging players and coaches awards respectively. Pragjyotishpur Football Academy was awarded as the best-disciplined team while Manomay SC, Narengi FCC, Guwahati City FC and Gauhati Town Club were awarded the most equipped grassroots clubs.

In U-6, Rajveer Biswakarma (Guwahati City FC) was awarded with top goalscorer trophy with 28 goals and Mundangkha Boro (Manomay SC) was awarded with best player trophy.

In U-8, Bihan Kashyap Boro (Chandmari SC) was awarded the top goal scorer trophy with 15 goals and Angshuman Sarma (Narengi FCC) was awarded the best player trophy.

In U-10, Ishan Bora (Chandmari SC) was awarded the top goalscorer trophy with 12 goals while the best player trophy was awarded to Hirakjit Barman (Huntos FC) and the best goalkeeper trophy was awarded to Bitopan Saikia (Huntos FC).

In U-12, Arup Barman (Pragjyotishpur Academy) was awarded the top goalscorer trophy, Rajat Sarma with Best Player (Pragjyotishpur Academy) and Ishant Sonowal (Guwahati City FC) was awarded the best goalkeeper trophy.

A total of 64 teams and more than 600 players participated in the third season of the GGBL, which is recognized by the All India Football Federation and Assam Football Association and supported by Guwahati School of Excellence, Sai Vikash, X’ss, PrintPanda, Logo Advertising and Brahmaputra Tea.
