Guangzhou FC to replace Shandong Luneng FC in AFC Champions League (East)!

In accordance with Article 9.4 of the Entry Manual for AFC Club Competitions (2021 Edition), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Competitions Committee has confirmed that the available AFC Champions League 2021 Group Position J1 slot left by Shandong Luneng FC, whose licence has been withdrawn by the AFC Entry Control Body, has been reallocated to Guangzhou FC, which is the next highest eligible club of the Chinese Football Association (CFA).

Similarly, applying the same principle, the AFC Champions League 2021 Group Stage slot which is currently held by Guangzhou FC – Group Position I2 – has been reallocated to Beijing FC.

In accordance with Article 9.1 (read together with Article 9.4) of the Entry Manual, the Playoff slot of the CFA (i.e., the CFA’s fourth seed slot) has been reallocated to Shanghai SIPG FC, who finished fourth in the 2020 Chinese Super League.

The AFC has contacted the CFA in order that the CFA can take the relevant documentary steps.
