Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of defender Alex Saji on loan from Hyderabad FC for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
22 year old Alex Saji, who was born in Wayanad in Kerala, played football locally before being picked up by the Redstar Football Academy.
Alex Saji then joined the Kerala Blasters Under-18s and then moved into the Kerala Blasters B team at senior level. Not making it at the ISL side, Alex Saji then moved to Gokulam Kerala FC, where he would go on to spend three seasons, lifting the I-League title twice.
Last summer, Alex Saji moved to ISL champions Hyderabad FC and made two appearances in the Durand Cup but he could not get any playing time in the ISL-9.
Now Alex Saji makes a loan move to NorthEast United FC ro try and establish himself in the ISL with the Highlanders hoping to get a dependable defender.
What would help Alex Saji at NorthEast United FC is that his former Gokulam Kerala FC head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese is now at the Highlanders.
