I-League champions Aizawl FC sign former India junior defender Lalrozama Fanai!

I-League champions Aizawl FC have continued to strengthen their squad by bringing another Mizo football home in former India junior defender Lalrozama Fanai.

25 year old Aizawl-born Lalrozama Fanai started his youth football with local side Bawngkawn FC before being selected in 2005 by the Mohun Bagan-SAIL Football Academy based in Durgapur. He moved on to join the Pune FC Academy in 2007 and stayed there for three seasons.

In 2010 Lalrozama Fanai joined the AIFF Developmental I-League side Indian (Pailan) Arrows and was a regular for them and he signed for Mohun Bagan in 2012. After only a season he joined newcomers Bengaluru FC and won the I-League title with them.

Lalrozama Fanai wasn’t retained and joined Aizawl FC and was part of their promotion gaining squad in 2015 which won the Second Division League.

But he wasn’t retained and played for another Second Division League side AFC Fateh Hyderabad before now returning to Aizawl FC for a second stint, where he adds much needed experience after the departure of most of their defence.

Lalrozama Fanai has played for the India Under-19 and Inder-23 before and during his time at the Indian Arrows.
