IFA (West Bengal) meets AIFF at Football House!

The Indian Football Association (West Bengal) on a visit to the capital visited Football House to interact with the All India Football Federation leadership.

The AIFF has assured to schedule time into the Indian Football calendar for the respective state leagues and also the IFA Shield besides the Durand Cup, which has its slot as a pre-season tournament.

The IFA president Ajit Banerjee, secretary Anirban Dutta, assistant secretaries Sufal Ranjan Giri and Rakesh Jha met in a meeting with AIFF acting secretary Satyanarayan at Football House in New Delhi on Wednesday, February 21.

After the meeting, IFA Secretary Anirban Dutta said, “There was a very fruitful discussion. We were able to convince the Acting Secretary of the All India Football Federation why there is a need to fix time for the state leagues and IFA Shield. The AIFF Secretary agreed on this. There was discussion about fixing the June to September period for the State Football Leagues. He said that a meeting will be held with the members of each state association to discuss the matter.

For this, the I-League 3 and Durand Cup schedule may be slightly changed. There has been talk of fixing a period of 15-20 days for the IFA Shield in the winter.

In order to increase the number of Coaches Instructors, there has been a discussion about bringing more Coaches Instructors and conducting Coaches Instructor Training Program in Bengal.

Apart from the above, the IFA has proposed to host the India vs Kuwait FIFA World Cup 26 qualifying match in Kolkata in June 2024.
