The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) marked a significant milestone in the delivery of its education programmes on Monday with the launch of the first-ever AFC Football Management Certificate (FMC) online course, which was introduced under the newly established AFC Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE) last month.
Participants from across the Continent embarked on their first steps towards undertaking a comprehensive curriculum, aimed at nurturing football-specific skill sets and industry knowledge as part of efforts to enable them to plan, execute and monitor the day-to-day operations in all aspects of football management.
In his opening address to the participants, AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John, said: “Football, as with most industries, is an ever-evolving landscape. Loved by billions of passionate fans, few sports can unite and uplift nations and inspire the human spirit like the beautiful game.
“The FMC programme is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the sum of all the critical parts that allow football to thrive.
“As underlined through the AFC’s Vision, we are committed towards providing focused and dedicated services to maximise the potential of our Member Associations, Regional Associations and the larger football ecosystem.”
As part of their induction into the programme, participants also heard from Dorian Esterer, Chief Executive Officer of the renowned Football Business Academy (FBA), the AFC’s academic partner, while at the same time took the opportunity to share their personal and professional experiences.
Over the next five months, participants will undergo 290 hours of study in nine core modules, which include the Organisation of World Football, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Income Generation, Media & Communications, Event Management, Operational Management, Human Resource Management and Child Safeguarding.
