India and NorthEast United FC defender Nirmal Chettri organised a youth football clinic in his home town of Mellidara in Sikkim with the support of the Football Players Association of India (FPAI).
The football clinic was not the first time that Nirmal Chettri organised such a camp and it had been set-up to create awareness about the beautiful game for the local youngsters. Nirmal trained the kids for about an hour before speaking to the children about focusing on their goals in life to reach their peak.
In total 43 boys from Turuk and Mellidara Paiyong GPU in Sikkim and Melli from across the border in West Bengal participated in the clinic.
The football clinic ended with an exhibition match between Melli Gumpa Secondary School and Milan Sewa Samiti Mellidara in which Nirmal Chettri was the star attraction and the experienced pro also scored the only goal for Milan Sewa Samiti Mellidara
23-Mellidara Paiyong GPU and the Civil Society of Mellidara presented a Token of Appreciation for this initiative to Nirmal Chettri.
Nirmal Chettri said afterwards, “It’s nice to spend time with the talented youngsters of my hometown!”
“I would like to thank Football Players Association of India (FPAI) for providing the football jersey and balls. And also I would like to extend my gratitude towards Constituency MLA and Minister Tulsi Devi Rai, Melli Gumpa Sec School, 23-Mellidara Paiyong GPU and the Civil society of Melli for the warm support,” Nirmal added.
