India U-17 Women score 4-0 friendly win over Tai Po in Hong Kong!

The India U-17 Women’s Team marched on to their second victory in as many matches in Hong Kong, after they beat Taipo TBC by a healthy margin of 4-0 on Sunday, June 23.

Carrying their form over from their 5-1 win over the Hong Kong U-23 side, the Indian girls scored two goals in each half to end with another four-goal victory. Sain Sankhe was the star of the show, as she netted two late goals to secure the win.

The Indian girls started off swiftly as defender Shilky gave them the lead within the first five minutes. A bit of interplay between midfielders Martina Thoklhom and Priyanka Devi released Amisha Baxla on the right. Her cross was perfectly met by Shilky who put India in the lead.

Soon after, India found themselves two goals up as Kiran put one past the opposition keeper to double the score.

This goal put the balance of power in India’s favour as the visitors went on to enjoy long spells of possession for the rest of the half. Martina and Priyanka saw a couple of efforts go wide before the teams headed into their dressing rooms for the changeover.

Astam looked to be on good form in the second half as the proceedings restarted with the forward dictating play and creating chances for India. A double substitution in just ten minutes after the restart saw Anju and Sai replace Sumati Kumari and Amisha Baxla. This provided further impetus as the duo combined to score two more.

Anju made her way into the opposition area and slipped a pass to Sai, who finished it off to score the third of the day. With less than ten minutes left on the clock, the duo combined yet again, as Sai finished off another pass from her fellow substitute to make it 4-0 for India.
