India’s AIFF & Singapore’s FAS earn Pro License memberships under AFC Coaching Convention!

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) became the latest Member Associations (MAs) to be conferred with Pro License memberships under the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Coaching Convention in October and September 2022 respectively.

Besides a range of practical activities, the AFC assessors conducted several virtual modules comprising theoretical discussions on technical tasks while the in-person visit laid considerable importance on physical fitness.
Led by long time AFC tutor Rob Sherman, the practical sessions took place at a high-quality facility of one of Singapore’s professional clubs.

Over a week of practical activities, the assessors conducted their evaluation on the basis of tactics, analyses, presentations that were provided by participating student coaches and their teams and upon being pleased by the performance, the FAS was granted an AFC Pro License membership.

FAS Technical Director Michael Browne said: “We are proud to have the AFC accord us with the Pro Level membership under the Coaching Convention.

“The FAS is constantly striving to raise the overall standards of coaching proficiency and competency in Singapore, and this accolade will only serve to further drive us forward in this aspect.”

In the following month, the AFC assessors visited India to conduct a three module course in Bhubaneshwar at one of the venues of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022.

Assisted by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Acting Technical Director and Head of Coach Education of the Federation, Savio Madeira, all participating student coaches were given an opportunity to conduct training sessions.

The visit was overseen by reputed Danish coach Kim Poulsen who along with Madeira, laid out a plan to train and develop more quality tutors in India.

Along with extensive theoretical sessions, a number of practical tasks were set out for the student coaches which were based on organising and executing training sessions.

Coaches from the Indian Super League were also invited to share their expertise and experience which proved to be of great value to the participants.

At the end of the three days long assessment, the AFC’s assessors deemed the AIFF fit for the AFC Pro License membership under the AFC Coaching Convention.
