India’s Amrinder issues rallying cry; Shukurov confident of Uzbekistan victory!

Amrinder Singh wants India to produce their best when they face Uzbekistan in Group B of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Thursday, January 18.

The South Asian side need to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Australia on Matchday One but are set for another test as Otabek Shukurov believes Uzbekistan are mentally prepared to secure the three points.
“Tomorrow’s game is significant for India, and the players have recovered well. We are eagerly anticipating the match, understanding its importance,” said 30-year-old shot stopper Amrinder.

“Regardless of when or where we play, the presence of fans is crucial. This is why we strive for continuous improvement, never feeling like we are playing away from home.

“The last game had a fantastic turnout of fans, and we hope for an even larger presence in the upcoming match.

“When I get my opportunity, I will give my best. It’s essential for us to continually push each other, that’s the only way we can enhance our performance.”

Shukurov said the clash against India will bring out the best in Uzbekistan.

“Regarding the first match, although we didn’t secure a win, we also avoided a loss. The Syrian defence proved to be highly organised. However, we believe we have a strong chance of qualifying and are optimistic about achieving the necessary results in the upcoming games,” said the Fatih Karagumruk midfielder.

“Our analysis of the Indian team is ongoing. They appear to be a disciplined team, performing well against Australia until the goalkeeper’s mistake. We aim to bring our best performance to the field, as it will be crucial.

“From a tactical perspective, the coach has a better understanding than the players. However, each game presents a new opportunity for players to showcase their abilities. Recognising our fans’ disappointment after the Syria game, we are determined to demonstrate improvement and reassure our friends, families, and supporters that we can perform at a higher level.”
