India’s match schedule for postponed 2020 SAFF Championship in Maldives announced!

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) has released the fixtures for the postponed 2020 SAFF Championship to be played from October 1 to 13 in the Maldives.

India will face Bangladesh (October 3), Sri Lanka (October 6), Nepal (October 8), and hosts Maldives (October 11) with the top two sides making it to the final to be played on October 13.

Originally the 2020 SAFF Cup was planed to be played last year in Bangladesh, but they pulled out of hosting the tournament due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Then the Maldives and Nepal had applied to be the alternative hosts, but in the end SAFF decided to go with the islanders.

The 2020 SAFF Championship would now be played from October 1 to 13 at the Male Stadium and besides the hosts Maldives, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka are set to participate with Bhutan opting out, while Pakistan will miss this edition of the tournament due to their suspension by the world governing body FIFA.

The final featuring the top 2 teams will be played on October 13.
