Ishan Pandita – More than Jamshedpur FC’s super sub!

As Jamshedpur FC get ready to take on FC Goa in the Indian Super League on Thursday, one man is well and truly going to be at the forefront of it all.

Ishan Pandita has emerged as one of the stars of tomorrow, both at a club and national level, and has something to prove ahead of his team’s crucial next clash.

The 24-year-old is one of the few Indian players with true international experience, plying his youth trade in Spain with several top clubs such as Almeria and Leganes, before coming back home and establishing himself as one of the most dependable young strikers in the country.

Born in Delhi, Pandita’s emergence as a footballer only really took off when he went to Spain to train at a much higher level and improved his game to the point where he was already a man by the time he made a return to the Indian football setup.

The homecoming for the forward was confirmed in October 2020 when FC Goa signed him and gave him an opportunity to shine in the ISL.

And shine he did. Despite largely coming off the bench that season, Ishan seemed to score crucial goals for the Gaurs with every vital touch, earning him the “super sub” tag that has stuck over the years.

Since joining Jamshedpur FC in September 2021, Ishan has continued to climb up the ranks, playing a major role in the league shield winning campaign of 2021-22 and even making his debut for the Indian national team.

This season, Pandita has been in and out of the starting eleven under Aidy Boothroyd, but recent performances seem to show that his maturity is outwardly visible, and it seems like a matter of time before the goals start pouring in too.

Playing against his former team on Thursday, expect Ishan Pandita to be running about and perhaps even finding the net to cap off a special evening at the Furnace.
