ISL-3: Champions Chennaiyin FC defeat last season finalists FC Goa at home!

fc-goa-chennaiyin-fcIn a rematch of the 2015 Indian Super League final, champions Chennaiyin FC hosted runners-up FC Goa at the Marina Arena better known as the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai with the hosts winning once more, this time 2-0 due to goals from Hans Mulder and Mehrajuddin Wadoo.

After chances at both ends, Chennaiyin FC took a 15th minute lead through a placed long range effort from Hans Mulder which beat the outstretched hands of Laxmikant Kattimani. FC Goa were not shocked and went into attack to look for the equaliser, but their efforts didn’t bring the desired results and at the other end Chennaiyin FC doubled the lead through their captain of the day, Mehrajuddin Wadoo whose effort was deflected by Rafael Dumas into the FC Goa goal.

Chennaiyin FC after their two goals allowed FC Goa more space, but the Gaurs were just not dangerous enough on the night as their chances either went wide or a Chennaiyin FC defender or keeper Karanjit Singh were in the way.

In the end the champions Chennaiyin FC scored their first win of ISL-3, while FC Goa suffered their third loss in a row.
