ISL-3: Mumbai City FC suffers late defeat to FC Pune City!

mumbai-city-fc-fc-pune-cityHigh flying Mumbai City FC suffered a late 0-1 defeat to Maharashtra rivals FC Pune City in an Indian Super League – Season 3 derby at the Mumbai Football Arena on Thursday night.

In the first session hosts Mumbai City FC controlled proceedings but despite their domination they created only a few chances with the best falling to Matías Defederico but his turning shot was put away for a corner by FC Pune City keeper Edel Bete. At the break the derby was goalless.

In the second session Mumbai City FC continued with their game as FC Pune City was unable to penetrate their opponents, but after wasting numerous chances it was their marquee Diego Forlan who first had a free kick deflected by keeper Edel Bete onto the post and when found free the Uruguayan’s shot was saved by Edel Bete.

But towards the end of the game, FC Pune City with the introduction of Jesus Pato put some pressure on Mumbai City FC with the winner coming in the 89th minute following a Narayan Das cross from the left was not collected by keeper Albino Gomes and a lurking Eugeneson Lyngdoh banged the ball into the net.

It stayed that way for FC Pune City’s first ever win at Mumbai City FC and Pune City moved into the top half of the league, while Mumbai City stay second in the table.
