ISL-4: Champions ATK suffer another setback, a 1-2 home loss to Chennaiyin FC!

Defending two-time ISL champions ATK continued their poor form of results with a 1-2 home loss to 2015 ISL champions Chennaiyin FC at the Saltlake Stadium on Thursday night.

After a day of pre-macth drama in which yesterday ATK manager Teddy Sheringham was fired and Ashley Westwood took charge on a interim basis, the hosts knew that only a win would help them to maintain their challenge for a semifinal spot.

After an open first half it was new ATK signing Martin Paterson who gave the hosts a 44th minute, when first a Jayesh Rane cross was headed goalwards by Paterson with goalkeeper Karanjit Singh making a save but Paterson would score off the rebound to give th Kolkata side a 1-0 half-time lead.

But that lead did not last too long as Chennaiyin FC equalised in the 52nd minute when an Anirudh Thapa corner was headed in by Mailson Alves to equalise.

The winner for the visitors came in the 64th minute when a Inigo Calderon cross was deflected by Jayesh Rane, Debjit Majumder with problems and an inform Jeje Lalpekhlua there to score his seventh goal of ISL-4.

That was enough for Chennaiyin FC to take the three points and go top of the ISL-4 standings again, while for ATK it looks more and more like the first edition without reaching the playoffs.
