Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC played out an exciting 2-2 draw in the ISL-4 at the J.R.D. Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Friday evening.
In one of the best matches in ISL-4 so far, Jamshedpur FC’s Nigerian striker Izu Azuka and Mumbai City FC winger Thiago Santos both scored a brace for their respective teams.
The guests were lucky as their captain Lucian Goian brought down winger Jerry Mawhmingthanga in the box in the first minute itself, but the referee waved play on to the surprise of the hosts. But this set the pace for the game as Jamshedpur FC came out of their usual defensive shell and played to score.
After a shot from Achille Emana which went wide, Mumbai City FC went ahead in the 24th minute, when Everton Santos found Thiago, who dribbled past a few Jamshedpur FC defenders and then curled in a beauty to give the guests the lead.
Jamshedpur FC now went out in search of the equaliser, but their finishing was wanting until the 43rd minute when Jerry found Azuka, who from a scramble put the ball into the net to the delight of the home fans.
And it was this combination again a couple of minutes later, when Azuka perfectly finished off a move to give the hosts a 2-1 half-time lead. What a turnaround.
Jamshedpur FC came out continuing with their attacks, but they just couldn’t add a third and they were punished in the 71st minute when Thiago volleyed the ball home to equalise.
Both teams had their chances towards the end, but it ended 2-2 after an exciting and entertaining game.
