ISL champions ATK sack manager Teddy Sheringham!

ATKDefending Indian Super League champions ATK have sacked their manager Teddy Sheringham and have named their technical director Ashley Westwood as their interim head coach until a replacement is signed.

With ATK set to face Chennaiyin FC tomorrow at home at the Saltlake Stadium, Ashley Westwood would be in-charge of the struggling champions and aim for the three points against the high flying southerners as a win for the home side would be the need of the hour to keep their slim semifinal hopes alive.

ATK are the most successful franchise in the Indian Super League’s history so far having won the 2014 and 2016 editions while reaching the semifinals in 2015.

But ISL-4 with no support from Atletico Madrid after the end of their partnership has led to ATK controlling football matters on their own and they went English by first signing technical director Ashley Westwood and later on bringing in former England, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur legend Teddy Sheringham but things haven’t worked for the champions as they have 12 points from 10 matches after their 0-3 loss at FC Pune City on January 20 to keep them in eight position, seven points off the playoff spots.

But not only the results but issues within the team have led to problems at ATK which have impacted performance and results. If Ashley Westwood can change that overnight will have to be seen, but he has the India experience having coached Bengaluru FC successfully for three years.
