The return of defending Indian Super League champions ATK to the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata wasn’t the best as they suffered a humiliating 1-4 loss to FC Pune City on Sunday afternoon.
ATK went into attack from the kick-off, but in the 13th minute against the run of play, Emiliano Alfaro set-up Marcelinho for the FC Pune City captain to give the guests a surprise early lead.
ATK now tried even harded to get the equaliser, but it remained 0-1 in favour of FC Pune City at the break.
After the restart ATK continued with their attacks and finally they got their equaliser in the 50th minute when Bipin Singh scored of an exquisite free-kick. But the joy was shortlived as in the very next minute, Rohit Kumar headed Pune City back into the lead.
Now ATK intensified their attacks even more, but the goals came at the other end. Marcelinho scored his second off the night off a deflection on the hour mark, while Marcelinho turned provider in a counter attack which Emiliano Alfaro finished off to earn FC Pune City an impressive 4-1 away win to ATK, who will have some thinking to do to imrpove in the coming matches.
