ISL side FC Pune City hold inaugural own club awards show!

Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City on Friday, April 6 conducted its first-ever own FC Pune City awards after long 2017/18 season.

Brazilian Marcelinho won the Player of the Year award, who as a captain scored eight goals, made seven assists and led the team to a playoffs spot, a historic achievement for the club.

The Players’ Player of the Year award went to centre-back Rafael Lopez Gomez, the impenetrable wall of the team, Rafa’s defensive skills has been the foundation of the team’s rise to the top of the table.

Diego Carlos has been named as the Fittest Player of the Year for his creativity and being the speed machine of the team, while he seamlessly shifted from being an attacking midfielder to a striker. He showed exceptional work rate and athleticism throughout the season.

The Most Improved Player of the Year award went to Gurtej Singh for making 109 clearances in 18 matches forming a formidable defensive partnership with Rafa Lopez and the goal against Jamshedpur FC was like an icing on the cake.

Young Sahil Panwar has been named Emerging Player of the Year, who as a FCPC Academy product made his ISL debut against Chennaiyin FC this season.

The Reserve Team Player of the Year award went to Anuj Kumar for his outstanding work between the sticks for team’s Academy during the victorious IFA Shield campaign which has led to a call for the reserve team.

The Women’s Player of the Year award went to defender and captain Darshana Sanas for her astute reading of the game. She was instrumental in the team’s victorious campaign at WIFA Championship and PDFA league in the past years.
