Jamshedpur FC beaten 2-1 by Mumbai City FC!

Jamshedpur FC went down 1-2 to Mumbai City FC at the Furnace after goals from Lallianzuala Chhangte and Vikram Partap Singh turned the game around.

Jamshedpur FC made a few changes from the 0-3 defeat against Bengaluru FC last time out, with the most notable one coming in goal as TP Rehenesh replaced young Vishal Yadav between the sticks.

But the attacking impetus is where the Men of Steel improved this time around, with much of the game played in the Mumbai half during the first 15 minutes.

Ritwik Das fashioned a shot that was saved by Phurba Lachenpa early on, while the keeper was forced into another save by Harry Sawyer around the 30 minute mark.

Daniel Chima and the rest of the stadium thought the Nigerian had given Jamshedpur FC the lead in the 42nd minute, but his header into the back of the net was ruled out by the officials, saving Mumbai City’s blushes.

The second half began with a bang for the hosts, with Pronay Halder forcing Lachenpa into an acrobatic save in the 53rd minute while Ritwik Das’ tap in from three yards out was somehow cleared off the line by Ahmed Jahouh in the 58th minute.

Jamshedpur FC’s dominance paid off as Boris Singh ran down the right flank in the 63rd minute and scored past the goalkeeper at the near post to send the crowd into raptures.

The home joy was short lived however as the Islanders equalised in the 79th minute thanks to a neat finish by Lallianzuala Chhangte.

The agony was complete for Jamshedpur FC in the 86th minute as an attempted cross from Vikram Singh flew past Rehenesh and into the top corner.

Despite a late attempt to rescue a point, the game ended 2-1 in Mumbai City FC’s favour, leaving Jamshedpur FC wondering what might have been.
