Jamshedpur FC sealed their first win of the Indian Super League 2022-23 season as they beat NorthEast United FC 1-0 in their second home match. Captain Peter Heartley’s headed goal in the 31st minute created the difference at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
Jamshedpur FC started as the dominant side creating plenty of chances from the beginning. Chima got the first chance in the 27th minute with a half-volley, but his attempt was collected easily by Mirshad Michu. The Men of steel kept the pressure on as minutes after Harry Sawyer flicked the ball from a corner toward Peter, who made no mistake to send it inside the net with precision.
Just before the break, Chima got a chance to double the lead as Boris created a ball with a brilliant cutback.
After the break Jamshedpur FC created more problems for the Highlanders creating chance after chance but couldn’t find the net. The gaffer made some changes as he brought in Jitu, Pandita and Jet.
Jet got the best chance of the night in the dying minutes of the game when Chima delivered a chiseled through ball.
The game ended with 1-0 win for Jamshedpur FC against NorthEast United FC as they took home full points. The Aidy Boothroyd managed side will face FC Goa next on November 3 in their second away game of the season.
