Jamshedpur FC clash with Odisha FC in ISL tonight!

The undefeated streak of the Men of Steel was broken down in their previous game when they faced the defending champions Mumbai City FC in an away match as the game concluded with a full-time score of 2-4.

Regardless of the final scoresheet, the Men of Steel showed real fighting spirit and determination to get back to the game and gave the Islanders a tough fight with some close chances of equalising, but were held back by the defence as the game ended in the first defeat for Jamshedpur FC. Picking themselves up from the defeat and moving forward in the current season, Jamshedpur FC now face their next opponent in the league, Odisha FC. The two sides have faced each other in the league eight times previously and will be going face-to-face for the ninth meeting today at the Tilak Maidan. The teams played against each other 2 times in the previous season with the first game finishing in an action-packed draw.

In the first half, the Men of Steel took an early lead with a penalty and then doubled up on their lead to end the first half with a 2 goal advantage. But the Men of Steel suffered a blow when T.P. Rehenesh got sent off for handling the ball outside the box, reducing the team to 10 men. The Juggernauts took advantage of this deficit and went on to score in the next play. Then Odisha FC put the final nail in the coffin with a 90th-minute equaliser by former player, Deigo Mauricio, which led to an almost won game to end in a draw.

They met again in the second half of the 2020-21 season towards the end which ended in a slim win for Jamshedpur FC with just one goal in the first half by Mobashir Rahman. The Juggernauts could not score any goals in the fixture which led to the winning points being awarded to the Men of Steel.

Now, the two sides face each other in the 2021-22 season for their first meeting with upgraded line-ups but the same hunger to grab the winning points and continue their campaign in a positive way. Both teams have had success in their first few games of the season; they have some top-quality players on every position of their formations which will make this game a fiery contest of football tonight. “We did show throughout the whole game (match against Mumbai City FC) that we created many chances and we have to make sure we are clinical because if we do that, we have shown that we can score goals and win games. We have to play exactly as we planned against a very good Odisha team,” said Owen Coyle ahead of the clash against the Juggernauts in a pre-match press conference.

Both sides are in the top 5 spots of the league table with Odisha positioned in the 3rd position and Jamshedpur in the 5th position after conceding a loss in their previous game. The teams will give their everything on the pitch to stay in the title race contention and keep themselves positioned in the top end of the league standings with a win in tonight’s game, and with some top-performing players and multiple goal scorers in the squad, it will certainly be an entertaining one for sure.

Jamshedpur FC face Odisha FC at the Tilak Maidan tonight at 7:30pm. Tune in to Hotstar and Star Sports Network to catch the live telecast.
