Jamshedpur FC face FC Goa for their next ISL challenge!

Jamshedpur FC kicked-off their 2021-22 campaign of the Indian Super League on November 21 when they faced SC East Bengal at the Tilak Maidan. The two engaged in an action-packed game of football with the aims of grabbing the 3 winning points and heading up the league table. However, both were unsuccessful in besting the other. The fixture ended in a draw with the full-time score being 1-1 leading both teams to walk away with a point in hand.

Now, the Jamshedpur squad move ahead in the season for their next challenge against FC Goa which is another away game. Both teams will go head-to-head at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim for their second game of the season.

FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC have previously played eight games against each other in the Indian Super League and the Gaurs have walked out victorious the majority of the time. They faced each other twice in the previous season out of which Jamshedpur FC were defeated on both occasions. In the first meeting of the last season, Jamshedpur FC were very close in grabbing a victory when the score was 1-1, but were let down after the official disallowed a clear Alex Lima goal to Jamshedpur FC which denied them the needed lead. After the denial, FC Goa went on to score a goal from a corner kick in the dying moments of the match which gave them the lead to grab a win over Jamshedpur FC. Then in the second clash of the previous season, FC Goa came out as clear winners after slotting in three goals past the defence, denying Jamshedpur FC every opportunity to score, thus keeping a clean sheet and the three winning points under their belt.

After being denied the win twice in the last season, Jamshedpur FC with an upgraded squad will now aim to grab a victory against the Gaurs. While the Men of Steel commenced their season with one point in hand, FC Goa did not really have the desired start to their campaign as they were defeated by the defending champions, Mumbai City FC, with a dominating score of 3-0.

“They must be currently hurting after losing their first game against Mumbai City FC and it is a dangerous time to play against them. But, we have to make sure we are at our very best and I know if we are at our best, then it is a game that we can win, so that is what we have to focus on. We’ll be very respectful of FC Goa’s quality as they are a fantastic club with great philosophy, players and an outstanding young coach, so they will get our utmost respect but we have to go out and play our game, the way we want to play at Jamshedpur FC,” said the Gaffer Owen Coyle in the pre-match press conference.

With some solid new additions to the squad, an intense pre-season training and the hunger to grab their first victory of the season, both sides will be bringing their best performance and will give their everything to be the better side on the pitch tonight.
