Jamshedpur FC go down fighting against Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium!

With their third defeat of the season, Jamshedpur FC missed out on the three points that they hoped to bag tonight in their first reverse fixture with Odisha FC. While the first half started slow and ended with a lead by the hometeam thanks to Aridane Santana, the second half saw plenty action. However, despite creating chances and getting close, the team struggled to convert opportunities at the back of the net.

The home team started the game well and had their first shot on target at the 7th minute. Daniel Lalhlimpuia collected the ball just outside the box and shot straight to Subrata Pal who held onto it. Both the teams were struggling to create a clear cut chance till the 25th minute. It was Odisha FC though who broke the deadlock at the 28th minute. Aridane Santana beat two Jamshedpur FC defenders before being through on goal and scored with an impeccable finish to put the home team in lead.

Right after taking the lead Odisha FC had the chance to double it, as Aridane Santana was through on goal, only for the referee to signal him offside. Against the run of play, Jamshedpur FC won a penalty when Odisha FC failed to clear the ball out of the penalty area and Sumeet Passi was brought down by Narayan Das inside the box. Aitor Monroy stepped up, showed nerves of steel before slotting the penalty in the bottom left corner. Just at the brink of half time, Odisha FC scored the second goal and took the lead. Nandhakumar Sekar put in a beautifully looped cross towards the far pole where Aridane Santana ran in and shot it on the first attempt, on the volley, and the ball rifled through the net. The score read 2-1 at half time.

Two minutes into the second half, Santana almost scored his third goal of the night after Marcos Tebar laid the ball to the Spaniard, but his right-footed shot was weak and went straight at Subrata. The Odisha defenders were more solid in the second half, keeping the Jamshedpur FC players at bay and holding onto their lead with caution. Farukh Choudhary missed a golden opportunity to level things up at the 69th minute. Narender Gahlot put in a beautiful cross towards the far pole where Farukh jumped high but headed just wide of goal.

CK Vineeth came in for the injured Robin Gurung at the 73rd minute. Vineeth was on and straight into the thick of things as he put in a vicious cross from the left-hand side. However, keeper Francisco Dorronsoro came out and punched the ball away. Jamshedpur FC made another substitution with Aniket coming in for Isaac Vanmalsawma at the 78th minute. In the dying minutes of the game, Jamshedpur FC had the best opportunity of the game but Aridane Santana saved the day at the perfect moment to clear the ball away. Aniket Jadhav put in a cross into the box and Francisco came off his line to punch the ball away but completely missed it. The ball fell to Memo Moura who chipped it over everyone. The ball was heading inside the goal but Aridane Santana cleared it off the line to win it for Odisha FC.
