Jamshedpur FC face Kerala Blasters FC in desperate need of a win tomorrow in their fifth home match of the Indian Super League 2022-23 season at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The ISL defending shield winners didn’t have the best start to the season with just one win and four points from seven matches. Injury to key players has been another big blow for the Men of Steel during this testing period.
After two consecutive tough losses against Chennaiyin FC and East Bengal FC, Aidy Boothroyd’s side is desperate to find their winning ways back.
“We are working hard to bring consistency and getting rid of poor decision-making during a crucial part of the game,” the gaffer said ahead of the next fixture at the furnace.
Aidy also opined, “Keeping clean sheets will be important going forward in the season.”
The Men of Steel will continue to miss Wellington Priori, Eli Sabia, and Germanpreet Singh due to injury.
The two sides have competed against each other 12 times in which Jamshedpur (three wins) hold the advantage over Kerala Blasters (two wins) while seven fixtures have ended in a stalemate.
Last season Kerala Blasters eliminated Jamshedpur FC from the playoffs to make their way to the ISL finals. Kerala Blasters lost the finals against Hyderabad FC.
Though they lost the finals, Blasters under gaffer Ivan Vukomanovic carried the same momentum this season. The Tuskers have made a decent start to the season with 12 points from seven matches beating defending champions Hyderabad FC 0-1 in their last match. Currently, Kerala Blasters FC is placed sixth in the league tablet whereas Jamshedpur FC is placed 10th.
The Men of Steel will look to turn the odds in their favour when they host Kerala Blasters at the Furnace. Bagging full points on the home pitch is all that the team now needs to gather the momentum and get back on winning ways. A win against the Kerala Blasters will also portray a sweet revenge for the playoffs from last season.
