Jamshedpur FC suffer 2-3 loss to Kerala Blasters!

The fans of Jamshedpur FC were excited as the long break finally came to end with Jamshedpur FC kicking off the New Year with a clash against Kerala Blasters FC. The team returned after a 13-day gap post their last game in December 2020.

Jamshedpur FC started their first game of the second half of ISL-7 with renewed energy and high spirits. They began the game with intensity whilst keeping possession of the ball. They also unleashed a barrage of attacks as they looked to get an early lead in the game. A very close call came for Kerala Blasters as Valskis sent a lovely through ball to Mobashir on the left flank who crossed it inside the box to Aniket. The Indian forward took a strike on goal but unfortunately, the ball deflected off the right post and Jamshedpur FC lost their chance to take the lead.

After the early danger in their box, the Blasters amped up their game as they came through with a number of attacks at the Jamshedpur FC box. However, they failed to convert those chances through Jordan Murray and Gary Hooper into goals. As the visitors looked for their golden chance to score, they got their lead as Pereyra stepped up to take a freekick; he whipped the ball into the far post where he found the skipper, Costa, who attempted a perfect header right into the net and took the Blasters to the lead.

Despite conceding an early goal, Jamshedpur FC came back with quick counter-attacks to get back in the game before the first half came to an end. One of the multiple attacks from the Jamshedpur side ended in a free kick right outside the Kerala Blasters’ box; Alex was fouled while he tried to dribble past the defensive wall. Then, Nerka stepped up to take the free kick as he looked to revive his scoring streak and finally, the striker brought Jamshedpur FC back to the game with a perfect curling shot aimed at the right corner of the goal. And with the score being level, a very entertaining first half came to an end.

The second half commenced with both teams pushing hard to take the lead and secure a win. Both sides unleashed attacks from all sides of the pitch, looking to grab those three points. Then, Jacki almost scored as he took a shot from inside the box towards the far post. Unfortunately, the ball hit the crossbar and then the left post to deflect away from the goal.

The entertaining contest took a very heart-stopping turn as Kerala Blasters came back with a strong attack and took an attempt at goal which was saved by Rehenesh, but the ball went straight to Jordan Murray who made sure to net the ball in thus taking Kerala to the lead. Even after being one man down and a goal ahead, the Blasters were hungry for more as they continued to put more pressure on the Jamshedpur side with multiple counter-attacks.

Kerala Blasters with their strong man-marking and intense pressure on Jamshedpur FC were not done yet; they extended their lead even further after an error from Rehenesh. One of the chances from the visitors went past Murray as he couldn’t get his touch on the ball. Then, the ball went straight to Rehenesh who was well ahead of his line as he dived to secure the ball in his hands. Unfortunately, the ball bounced off his torso and rolled right into Murray’s feet who did not waste any time to make the most out of the given opportunity. He put it straight into the net thus scoring his second goal of the night.

But, the goal-fest wasn’t over, and neither were Jamshedpur FC as just after a few minutes after the third Kerala Blaster goal, Jamshedpur FC came in with an attack from the right flank, looking to equalize the score and end the game in a draw. Mobashir lobbed the ball into the box which found Valskis in the heart of the Kerala Blasters’ box and he scored via a perfect header thus keeping the game alive for Jamshedpur FC. With 6 extra minutes added into the game, Kerala parked their bus at defence as they cleared every chance the Jamshedpur FC attackers came in with and denied all crosses into the box.

And that’s how the night ended at Tilak Maidan with Kerala Blasters registering their first victory over Jamshedpur FC in the ISL, whilst grabbing the crucial three points.
