Jamshedpur FC will host the grand finale of the nation’s longest baby league, the Jamshedpur Golden Baby League, on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Tata Football Academy (TFA) ground, starting at 2:00 PM.
The Jamshedpur Golden Baby League, spanning an impressive 10 months, commenced its exciting journey on 26th February 2023. This has been a testament to the city’s commitment to nurturing young football talent. The league’s final day promises to be a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed by the budding football stars of Jamshedpur FC Grassroots Football School.
Kundan Chandra, Head of Grassroots, emphasized the importance of starting football development at an early age as he said, “True development in football must begin at the base i.e., the grassroots. It is on the playgrounds, where kids play with passion, that the foundation of the beautiful game is laid. Grassroots football isn’t just a phase; it’s a fundamental pillar of the sport. From the earliest stages of the game to the pinnacle of professional leagues, every footballer, including our renowned stars, took their first steps in grassroots football. It’s where dreams are nurtured, skills honed, and a love for the game is cultivated. Emphasizing the significance of grassroots football isn’t just about creating future professionals; it’s about fostering a lifelong connection to the sport at all levels.”
A remarkable total of 106 teams comprising 971 students actively participated in the league, showcasing their talent and passion for football. In the league, footballers played a total of 11,928 minutes and scored 1,525 goals. Five Jamshedpur FC Grassroots Football Schools, i.e., Loyola School, Carmel Junior College, JPS School, HillTop School, and DAV Bistupur School, participated in the baby league, making it a huge success.
