Jamshedpur FC win a thriller 3-2 over NorthEast United FC!

After another game ending in a victorious night against the Marina Machans, the Men of Steel stepped up for yet another tough clash as they kept their qualification to the playoffs in mind and seeked to bag nothing but a win against NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

The game kicked-off with high energy as Jamshedpur FC unleashed attacks aimed at the Highlanders’ box as they seeked to take an early lead over their opponents, but the NorthEast United defence were clever at the back to keep the Jamshedpur attackers at bay. The first 30 minutes of the game saw intense action all over the pitch as multiple fouls were attempted on both ends of the pitch and then Jamshedpur FC opened their account of the night as Len Doungel marked his return in the starting line-up with a brilliant header. Ricky got the ball from a throw-in and tossed it to Mobashir who took his time and curled the ball to the far post, where Len ended the play; he headed it beyond the goalie to take the Men of Steel to the lead. The Men of Steel pushed forward with a goal’s lead but were held back from extending their lead before the first half came to an end.

The second half began as NorthEast United picked up their pace with a crucial substitution with Marcelinho on the pitch. The Highlanders pushed to get back in the game with numerous fast-paced attacks to get back in the game with a goal, but the Jamshedpur side reversed it as they extended their lead with a second goal to their tally. Jamshedpur FC won a free kick on the right wing as Mobashir took it swiftly and played a fantastic chipped-pass forward to set Stewart clear on the right wing. Stewart cut inside to beat the defender alongside him and then chipped the ball over a committed keeper to dunk the ball into the net with ease and make it 2 for the ambitious Men of Steel.

With a two goal lead, Jamshedpur FC looked confident in their approach but NorthEast United broke down the lead that the Men of Steel built with hard work in just under two minutes. Due to an unfortunate injury to Peter Hartley, he had to be subbed off, of which the Highlanders’ side took advantage and slotted in two quick goals to equalize the scoreline, building hopes of winning the game. Ralte scored off a rebound from a saved shot from Rehenesh and Marcelo zoomed past the defence line to put the ball into the back of the net.

But the game wasn’t over! The Jamshedpur side did not back down as they took control of the game and kept the invasions into the box with only an objective in mind, scoring a winner to take away all 3 points and move closer to the playoffs. The Men of Steel’s persistent attempts to grab the lead finally paid off when they scored their third goal of the night to get the desired advantage. Greg drove the ball in the middle of the pitch to the NorthEast United and delivered a wonderful chipped-pass to Jordan Murray who was already on his run in the box and finished the play with a perfect acrobatic finish into the back of the net to seal the required win for the Jamshedpur side.

The team rejoiced as they drew closer than ever to qualify for the playoffs in the club’s history walking out victorious after an entertaining encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda with just one point away from playing the semifinals.
