Jamshedpur FC’s Aidy Boothroyd speaks ahead of ATK Mohun Bagan tie in Super Cup!

Jamshedpur FC put up a dominant performance to churn out a win in their first fixture of the Super Cup against FC Goa and began the tournament on a high. An eight-goal thriller ended with Jamshedpur FC grabbing the winning points with Rafael Crivellaro scoring a brace.

Now the Men of Steel look forward to their next challenge in the Group C, ATK Mohun Bagan.

Jamshedpur FC head coach Aidy Boothroyd is quite eager to get going with the second game against the Mariners’ and when asked about the anticipated fixture, he had a fair assessment of the contest.

“They’re (ATK Mohun Bagan) difficult opponents but that’s what you want in these competitions and we’re a good team too so it should be a good game.”

Six occasions have brought Jamshedpur FC and ATK Mohun Bagan against one another. Out of which Jamshedpur FC have been the triumphant side in three of them, while ATK Mohun Bagan have won twice.

Aidy Boothroyd is prepared to give the Mariners all the respect, but also noted the importance of being prepared for this crunch clash.

“We give our opponents respect, look at the strengths and weaknesses. They have had a really good season but the recent game between us didn’t have much to choose from.”

“It’ll be a tense affair this time around. I expect it to be quite a cagey game but it’s one we look forward to.”

After wrapping up their first game of the Super Cup, Jamshedpur FC now hold the second spot in Group C. On the other hand, ATK Mohun Bagan have taken over first place after winning their opening match by a big margin as well against Gokulam Kerala FC.

There was nothing to separate Jamshedpur FC and ATK Mohun Bagan the last time the two sides met in the ISL, and the boss believes another clean sheet may not be far away this time too.

“We had a clean sheet the last time we played them and we’ll just focus on ourselves this time and make sure we get ready to give another good performance and also score some goals.”

Both sides have always managed to deliver some intense battles for their fans and there’s no doubt another promising clash between the two awaits at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode.

Watch Jamshedpur FC take on ATK Mohun Bagan on Friday, April 14 live on Fancode and Sony Sports 2.
